GoldFinch Covers
Goldfinch covers are manufactured in heavy duty, high grade, U.V. resistant, P.V.C. coated polyester for long life. Each cover is tailored for accurate fit. All necessary fastenings, including webbing under hull straps and nylon quick release buckles, are supplied. Covers for most classes are held in stock. Others we can manufacture within a week.
We also manufacture the full range of covers in breathable cotton/polyester. We would recommend it where it is felt that extra precautions are needed to protect the finish of the decks & interior of the boat, i.e. for older wooden boats that have absorbed considerable amounts of moisture, or wooden boats of particularly light construction. It is also a manufacturers recommendation for some of the newer hi tech construction classes.
Types of Cover
Boom Up
This is the most popular for dinghy park storage. The mast is up. The boom is connected to the gooseneck and rests on the transom or stern deck. This design sheds water well and provides plenty of air space under the cover to prevent condensation.
Boom Down
The mast is up. The boom is down and disconnected from the gooseneck. Water shedding is assisted by a lifting tab in the centre of the cover, which can be attached to the main halyard. The boom may also be used as a central support. This cover fits well with the mast removed and is very suitable for trailing.
Flat/Trailing
The mast is down and there are no openings in the top of the cover. This design suits boats normally stored with the mast & boom lying on the deck or in the hull e.g. Topper and Laser. It is also used by other classes for trailing or winter storage.
